There are many uses for flags. Some require manually handling and others require the use of a flag stand. But never the less a flag performs man functions. Some of those are to signal the start and end of a race. Or to mark a location. In sports a flag is used to show that you did something wrong. A flag flown at half-staff tells us that someone has past. At our house we use
a flag, mounted on a pole, and place in a flag stand, to fly the American flag which indicates that we are patriotic. So, I guess the flag, in this case, represents a loyalty or belief. But the nice thing about any flag, is that no matter the use, it has a meaning that is understood throughout the world.
