Flag Etiquette:
The following guidelines are for the flag of the United States.
Under normal circumstances the star section of the flag should line up with top of the pole.
When the flag is being displayed the star section should be in the top left.
The flag should be free of any markings, words, or symbols not already present on the flag.
It should be the top most flag being flown.
When the flag is no longer in a suitable state it should be burned.
Flag Maintenance:
The flag should be cared for and inspected regularly. Keep an eye out for rips, tears, dirt, etc.
Cleaning your flag can be done by hand with soap and cold water or through the dry cleaners.
Make sure the flag is away from obstacles when it is raised.
Storms and rain are prone to shorten a flag’s lifespan so consider taking it down during these conditions when feasible.
If your flag is faded or no longer rectangular it should be retired.
